Haiku Book Reviews
Following in the footsteps of the brilliant landofthepines, here’s my Haiku Review of the most recent book I finished.
Creepy Ireland murders.
Holy shit you guys.
If you’re into mysteries/crime fiction/detectives, etc. this is smarter than general murder mystery fluff (I’m looking at you James Patterson, also WTF were you thinking casting Tyler Perry as Alex Cross, we need to talk), extremely fast paced with beautifully written characters. I’ve also read (and loved) Tana French’s other three books: In the Woods, The Likeness, and Faithful Place.
For a point of reference regarding my taste in books, I’m a big fan of Nora Ephron, Dennis Lehane, Jonathan Kellerman, Gillian Flynn, Ken Follet, John Irving, dystopic YA literature, and nonfictional accounts of viruses and other public health concerns. I consider my tastes… eclectic.
I am not into bad writing (Twilight GDIAF), action without character development (Dan Brown), or total fucking boredom (you know what you’ve done, John Steinbeck).
